Great season everyone! This year was a lot of fun and very interesting. We had our very first all female championship in Super Bowl III. Our champion this year is Hollie Gambrel. She defeated Allie Coulter in the championship by 1 game, so it was a good effort by both parties. Hollie came into this season as a rookie and ends the season as a Champion. She also tied for the best overall record this year. Allie Coulter came into the championship round as a "Cinderella Team". She was able to defeat two of the best Pickers in the league (Bryant and Matt). However, it was not enough to beat Hollie. Her season started off a little shakey but she was able to pull out some crucial wins to get that #8 spot in the playoffs. She had a great year even though her record was not phenomenal but she is a fighter and will continue to fight for years to come. Bryant Maxwell had a great season yet again. He was in first place going into the playoffs, unfortunately he lost in the first round. However, he still finished tied with the best record in the league. Last year he had the best record in the league. So, its safe to say that this powerhouse will continue to be a threat for years to come. Mark Wagner also had a great season. He was in 2nd place going into the playoffs, behind Bryant , exactly like last year. He came up short in the semi finals yet again. Hes still hungry for that first Super Bowl ring and I would not count him out for next year. Mark also finished being tied for the best record this year. Matt Gambrel came close, yet again, this season. He lost in the semi-final round again. He made the mistake of picking the Cowboys every week which may have been his downfall, but he is a true fan and I'm sure he will continue to pick the Cowboys every week until they or he no longer exists, which ever comes first. Brock Peek made a valiant effort this year. He competed well with Matt Gambrel, going back and forth throughout the whole season. Matt was able to get the best of him in the playoffs though. Brock ended the season in 6th place with a 163-92 record. Not bad for an amateur. David Gambrel ended the season slightly better than he did last year. He ended in 7th place, compared to last years 8th place. He made it to the second round of the playoffs and ended up losing to his wife, Hollie. His record improved a lot since last year. He had 13 more wins this year than last year. Even though his season was not the best, I'm sure he is still happy that he is married to a Super Bowl Champion. Bobby Wagner ends the year coming in last place out of everyone who made playoffs. Bobby was knocked out early in the first round of playoffs this year. Next year I will bet that he makes it to the finals because he is going to regroup in the off season, do his research, and plan ahead. He works hard to achieve his goals and he has a good chance of doing it next year. "Downtown" Julie Brown was a bit of a disappointment this year. Last year, Julie started off the season 0-16 because she missed the first week and was able to climb all the way up to be tied for 6th place and ended last year with a record of 155-101. This year she ended up 154-101 (missing one game because of the tie). So she ended up doing about the same as she did last year, but didn't miss a whole week. She's a fierce competitor and I'm sure will be in the playoff hunt next year. Finally, we have Justin Bengtson. Justin came into this league a little bit cocky. He thought he knew all that he needed to know about football to make these picks. He did not realize how competitive this league actually is. He made some risky picks that, for the most part, were not in his favor. I am intrigued by his style of picking because so many people make the easy, obvious picks, but Justin likes to steer away from the group and make some picks that are a bit "out there". This year it did not work out for him, but next year some of those "out there" picks might swing in his favor which will make him a serious threat in the playoffs. All in all it was a great season and I had a lot of fun and I hope you all did too. Please come back next year. Also, if you are interested in doing the Playoffs 2013 Bracket like we did last year, please look at the next post I put up here.
